It was a great ten minutes on Friday 21st February as we had two winners of two bumpers at two different tracks. New horse Nada to Prada went first (Warwick 5.10), bought by Tom Malone for Lynne Maclennan at the January Cheltenham sale. She was bought from Aiden Fitzgerald of Cobajay Stables who has also suppliedus with Cobajay Island, Ask Himself, Court Master, Rosie and Millie and Smiths Cross to name a few. She had been an impressive winner of her point in Ireland on soft ground. She had settled in to life with us very well and the main concern we had before running was that is was quite soon on her having only joined us recently, new horses especially pointers form Ireland usually take a good few weeks to settle in. Aiden and his team had obviously done a great job with this mare having won her point on the 5th of January, she arrived looking in great condition and adapted to life with us as well as any new horse has ever done. So we thought we would run and find out a bit more about her, all her home work had been good and the form of her point was working out well, so it was no surprise to go and see her win as well as she did at Warwick ridden by Brendan Powell. She is a light framed mare who will most likely only run once more this season if at all, she will probably have an entry in the mares bumper at the Aintree festival and see how she is as well as ground etc. This daughter of Kayf Tara has a good pedigree behind her as well and is a very nice prospect to be going mares novice hurdling with next season as she still has plenty of filling out to do, another nice prospect for Lynne Maclenann.
Gabby, Bella and Brendan all smiles after Nada to Prada’s impressive win .
Ten minutes later Let Me Entertain U made his race course debut for owner Mark Dunphy ridden by Tom Scudamore. This son of Saint Des Saint is a lovely strong four year old, who had impressed in his work since he arrived in early January, ridden in most of his work by our amateur Callum Bickers-Price. He traveled very well through the race before staying on strongly to win by two lengths even though showing plenty of signs of greeness once up the run in. It was a good performance in testing ground especially from a four year old having his first ever run. This was Marks second winner for us following on from Caltex impressive win at Leicester, both horses Caltex and Let Me Entertain U have entries at Cheltenham but Caltex is more likely to go to Sandown on the 7th March first, and we will see how Let Me Entertain U is before making any concrete plans for him.
Mark and his gang celebrate the win in style with Becky who looks after him!
After the disappointment of Newcastle being called off on Saturday where we had three good chances we have been quiet with runners this week, Do Your Job could head to Newbury in a novice hurdle on friday, we probably wont have anything over the weekend but could be at both Chepstow and Wetherby Monday if the weather allows!!
