Mr Chua finally got his head in front for the first time at Chester on Friday Afternoon. Not many have deserved their first success as much as him, never out of the first 4 in all his starts to date both on the flat and over hurdles. Owned by Jimmy Chua, he was given a very good ride by Tom Eaves his first winner for us. Close to the pace all the way he made his move turning for home, he hit the front inside the last furlong and hung on gamely to win by half a length. He won here of a mark of 70, this race was over 1m6f and he could well step up in trip next time as he certainly seems to have plenty of stamina. He also has the option of going back over hurdles at some point as he looks reasonably handicapped in that sphere as well.
Rolfe Rembrandt kept up the good form of the flat horses when winning a nursery over 5f at Newbury on Sunday. This was his first try in a nursery and his first victory having been second and third twice in his previous starts. Ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen he broke slowly before making headway from 2 furlongs out hit the front in the last 110 yards to win going away. Owned and Bred by Hunscote Stud, we have had many winners for them before with the likes of Gloucester, Gunslinger and Silly Wupple but the first winner we have trained under the Hunscote Stud banner so a special day for us. He is a big strong 2 year old who will definitely improve with time but he is thriving on his racing at the moment, he won well here off a mark of 75 so hopefully he can keep on improving form here.
Isaac Wonder has been disappointing in his two runs since winning on the first day of the jumps season so he will have a short break to freshen up and then may have another go back on the flat after running well at Goodwood earlier in the season. Justice Knight was fourth today at Stratford on his first run of the season this was a good reappearance especially as the rain that came would certainly not have helped him. We are starting to have a few more entries over jumps in the coming weeks as September draws closer and the NH horses step up there work to full fitness. There is definitely a buzz about the yard this season as we have lots of exciting horses to look forward to.
This time of year is also sales season so we have been busy up at Doncaster and keeping an eye on the sales over in Ireland that we havent been able to attend thanks to Covid. We bought three up at Doncaster a lovely Blue Bresil filly out of listed placed dam Very Special One, she is a lovely strong 3 year old from a good family. She is for sale and will head off this week to be broken in. We also purchased a Norse Dancer out of R de Rien Sivola who is also a black type mare, this big strong three year old is a half brother to Little Miss Poet and Interconnected, he is already away being broken and look to have a bright future he was bought for current owners Phil and Sue Truscott. We were also delighted to buy Karlie from the Horses in Training sale at Doncaster, she is an irish point winner and a daughter of Schiaparelli and looks another exciting young addition to the team for owner Mark Dunphy.
