Plenty of Butty kept the good form going when winning at Newton Abbot on the 19h September ridden by Brendan Powell. Held up in rear he made smooth headway to end up winning by 2 lengths. He had run well on his first start this season when 4th at Uttoxeter over 2m4f, the drop back to 2m at Newton Abbot really seemed to suit him. He has gone up 7lb for the win and hopefully he can build on this result, good ground is important to him so we will try and keep him busy while we can. Becky Price rides him every day and looks after him at home so she deserves a lot of credit as he hasn’t always been the easiest to deal with and she has done a great job with him. Fancy Shapes also ran on the same card and came third in the mares 2m novice hurdle, this was her first run since November and her first start since having a wind op, this was a very pleasing re appearance. She is a big strong mare who should get further in time and looks to have the size and scope to jump a fence in time, hopefully she can build on this re appearance and we can have plenty of good days going forward.
A busy weekend and next week looks likely, two runner at Uttoxeter an Friday followed by two more again on Saturday at Market Rasen, With more entries at Bangor and Huntingdon in the week. Northern Beau and Czech Her Out head to Uttoxeter, Northern Beau better known as a chaser is having a run back over hurdles but her main aim will be in October when she can hopefully go back to Cheltenham where she seems to save her best for. Czech Her Out has had a wind op since her last run and this looks a competitive 16 runner affair but she is in great form and could still be reasonably handicapped in the wind op has worked. Justice Knight and The Crazed Moon head to Market Rasen on Saturday, Justice Knight didn’t take to fences at all last time so reverts back to hurdles and The Crazed Moon looks to take advantage off a much lower mark over hurdles than the chase mark she was second off round here on her first start for us, a repeat of that form should see her go very close.
