It’s been a while since the last news update on life here as we have been waiting for the website to be updated!! Well it has finally been finished and a lot has happened here at Eccleswall Court since then.We have reached our highest number of winners In a season already and it’s only January!!! Winners 16 and 17 were reached this week thanks to the mares ‘Two Smokin Barrels’ and ‘ Twenty Eight Guns’.
Two Smokin Barrels took the long trip up to Kelso last Sunday for a mares only 3 mile chase ridden by Liam Treadwell. This was smokeys third win in a row having already won twice at Wetherby earlier in the season. Owned by Martin Jones who made the 5 hour journey to Kelso, despite a few fears the meeting would even be on!! She jumped fantastic and out stayed them on very heavy ground to win by four lengths. She won here off a rating of 120 and is improving with every run she will hopefully head to Catterick on the 3rd February for another mares. A big thank you to Maize and Gabby who drove all the way up to kelso on the day before her race, but had a good night out to make up for it!!!!
Happy connections in the winners enclosure after Two Smokin Barrels victory
Twenty Eight Guns also won her third race of the season on Thursday by winning at Wincanton ridden by Tom Scu. Wincanton had to survive three inspections due to the frost and we had already arrived before the third inspection at 12. Luckily the sun had done it’s job and luckily racing got the go ahead. The day started well for Tom as he won the first race. It was our turn in the second race, this was a big step up in grade. She started steadily but took up the running down the back, jumped fantastically and went on to win by an eased down 9 lengths. She will have a hike up in the ratings for this but hopefully she can stay a bit further than the 2m4f she won over here. It was great that a Alistair, Irene and David were all there to celebrate
