A tough blog to write this week as we have to start off with some shockingly sad news. Liam Treadwell passed away on Monday night aged just 34, Liam had been a big part of the yard since having his first ride for us when winning on Princess Fleur at Worcester back in 2013. Between him and Tom they shared the majority of the rides here up to 2018 when Liam announced his retirement following a nasty fall and a serious concussion. He was back riding in 2019 and had his first ride back for us in March 2019 when Czech Her Out was second only beaten a neck in a bumper at Taunton, nearly the dream first ride back. Liam was an exceptional rider and gave us so many good days, probably our best day was when he rode Monbeg Dude to be third in the 2015 Grand National. A fantastic ride of skill and patience one of the best rides I have seen round those famous fences. Liam was such a lovely man, time to talk to anyone and despite all his successes there was no arrogance or side to him at all, he treated everyone the same. He was a pleasure to have in the yard and very proud to have called him a friend. Sadly perhaps he didn’t realise how good he was, and with what such high regard people, especially his colleagues, held him in as a person and as a rider. Our thoughts are with all his family and friends in this extremely hard time.

Mr Chua is declared to run at Lingfield on Friday as long as the ground doeasnt dry up too much. This is his first try in a handicap on the flat, he is stepping up in trip as well to 1m6f and has George Rooke on board taking 5lb off. He is in great form and should be able to run well off this sort of mark in a race like this. Jump racing gets going again on the 1st of July at Southwell, Isaac Wonder is entered there in a couple of races. He also has an entry back on the flat at Doncaster on the 30th as does Rolfe Rambrandt looking to go one better than last time.
Most of the horses are back in now just another 12 or so left to come back, all the ones that have come back look great and have really summered well. We should have an exciting team of 35-40 horses to look forward to this winter and some very nice types in there. Cant wait to get going!!
